Present a tattoo idea clearly

Build a simple brief

In a practice consultation, ask about the subject, preferred style, intended placement and approximate size. Record what matters most to the person and what they are unsure about. Repeat the brief in your own words so they can correct misunderstandings before you develop the drawing.

Explain the proposal

Prepare a sketch and describe the choices you made. Explain which parts are settled and which need further discussion. If you are practising how to quote, list what your example quote includes and what would require a revised quote; do not present an estimate as a confirmed booking.

Review the conversation

Ask your practice partner whether they understood the proposal and felt comfortable asking questions. Note any words that caused confusion. A clear conversation should help both people make an informed decision, including deciding that the design is not the right fit.
