This Disability Discrimination Policy outlines our commitment to ensuring that all our services and training programs are accessible to individuals with disabilities, providing reasonable adjustments and support where necessary.

Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to ensure that Skinart Training complies with applicable disability discrimination laws and promotes equality of opportunity for individuals with disabilities.

Scope

This policy applies to all employees, learners, job applicants, and any individuals who are users of our services.

Definitions

“Disability” refers to a physical or mental condition that substantially limits one or more major life activities.

“Discrimination” involves treating someone unfavorably or less favorably due to their disability.

Skinart Training is committed to:

Providing an inclusive and supportive environment for all learners and staff.

Making necessary adjustments to training, assessment methods, and materials to accommodate the needs of individuals with disabilities.

Ensuring all staff are aware of their responsibilities under this policy.

Providing appropriate training to staff to support learners with disabilities.

Legal Framework

This policy is in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) which provides a legal framework for the rights of individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities

Management and all staff members at Skinart Training are responsible for understanding and supporting this policy and its objectives. All members of staff are expected to:

  • Ensure that their actions conform to the principles set out in this policy.
  • Undertake training and professional development as required.
  • Be proactive in identifying and preventing disability discrimination.

Provisions

Skinart Training will:

  • Ensure that our facilities are accessible to individuals with disabilities where reasonably possible.
  • Provide training material in accessible formats upon request.
  • Offer additional support and adjustments for assessments and training delivery.
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect the dignity of our learners at all times.

Complaints Procedure

If any individual feels that they have been discriminated against by Skinart Training or its staff, they should follow the complaints procedure outlined below:

  • The individual should raise the issue with their course coordinator or a member of the support staff.
  • If not resolved, the complaint should be formally submitted in writing to the designated Disability Support Officer.
  • The complaint will be investigated impartially, and the complainant will receive a response within a specified timeframe.

Training and Awareness

Skinart Training commits to ongoing staff training on disability awareness and understanding of this policy. Staff will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to make reasonable adjustments and provide support as needed.

Review and Monitoring

This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure its effectiveness and updated in accordance with changes in legislation or organizational practices.

Approval and Implementation

This policy has been approved by the Board of Directors of Skinart Training and is effective as of 07 November 2023. All staff and learners are required to adhere to the principles outlined in this policy.
